I ordered one size up as recommended for boots when you want to wear heavy socks. These have plenty of space. They came with the regular removable insole and a memory foam insert. With both in place and thick socks they were a perfect fit and very comfortable. The gripper on the bottom easily flips so you can use them only when needed and as you walk out the door. Was concerned that they may hurt my hard wood floors but when the gripper is not in use they are fine (the metal does not touch the floor). The regular soles look like they will grip well in snow, I have not had a chance to test them in those conditions yet. The regular sole is slippery on smooth ice. The gripper works well if you make sure to set your foot down so that the gripper digs into the ice and maintain that grip with one foot until the other is appropriately placed. If you walk heal to toe you can slip on the ball of your foot when the gripper comes out of the ice. Have to admit my first test of the grippers capability was walking on ice that was caused by rain freezing, so it was very smooth and slick. Without the gripper, I am sure I would have been sliding or falling so I was very thankful for my new boots. Now I just hope the manufacturer designs some cuter styles for the future.Update: Been wearing these for about a month now. The gripper does at times touch the floor when flipped up, I can hear it grinding on tile or cement floors off and on. I am being careful not to wear these on my wood floors. Without use of the gripper these soles are not as good on ice as other boots. In snow they work well. They are still super comfortable and keep my feet warm.I purchased these boots for a trip to Iceland. They fit great and worked great in the winter snow, keeping my feet warm and dry. The problem I had with them was that the metal cleat on the bottom right boot broke off on the third day of wearing them.I bought them ahead of the trip and when I came back, the window of time to replace them had closed.Follow up on my initial review. I reached out to the manufacturer and they were kind enough to replace the boots. Those boots were then stolen by porch pirates. As the boots were now out of stock, the manufacturer provided a refund on the original boots.I appreciate that the company stood by their product and provided excellent customer service. Minus the issue with the cleat, the boots really are great.Thank you!I bought them for my aging mother. She really likes the sense of stability from the ice gripper. Runs small though. She wears a 9 and the 10 I ordered were a little snug. She switched out the inserts (it came with 2 different kinds) which I thought was coolThese boots definitely met my expectations. I walk a lot in snow and ice, so it is important that I have something waterproof and slip resistant. Thus far, these boots have not disappointed. They are cute and comfy. You can’t beat them for the price!Needed some winter boots that were waterproof and hopefully had slip resistant soles to handle snow and ice. These 'pleather' boots claim to have both. I figured these Canadian designed boots might fit the bill. The boots have two layers under the foot bed along with a removable third layer that you could use in other boots. Also, the bottom of the heel has an ice gripper clip that can be flipped back and forth depending on whether you want to use it.I wear a 12 narrow and use Ortha heel orthotics along with a 1/2 inch heel lift for my left leg.I use the orthotics instead of the third remove able insole. The boots can accommodate this although I probably could not wear thicker socks. I still walk carefully as I shattered my wrist last January slipping on ice. However, the soles seem more snow friendly than boots I have had in the past. These boots are certainly worth a try.I hardly ever write reviews, but in this case I must, because I'm in love with these boots! I found them when I was looking for some strap-on cleats that I could wear over regular boots when it's icy out. Not that I wanted the trouble of strapping on cleats, but I'm getting older, and I just can't afford to slip and break a bone. Well, these boots have a built-in cleat! It's easy to flip it one way to arm the cleat and the other to disarm it. Then I was afraid they wouldn't fit well because I have a narrow foot. Well, there is a memory foam insole that can be added. I also added my orthotic. With both of those, these boots fit very well and are very comfy. I feel much more secure going outside in bad weather with these boots.Update number 3: I have to return my second pair of these boots. The ice grabber came off. That’s one reason I bought these. They’re were so comfortable too. I’m really sad. It’s soooo very hard to find boots that fit and are comfortable.I have large calf’s and ankles. So it’s hard for me to zip the zipper all the way.I like the style. The ice pic on the heel...I have my fingers crossed. These boots seem to be well made. I’ll add later if I find out otherwise.Update: I had a whole in my left boot. I could never find it. I called up Amazon and they contacted the company. They went me a new pair of boots. I have dry feet again. Changing the status to 5 stars.Originally ordered a sz. 8. While they did fit, I needed more toe room, so I ordered the 9. Incidentally, I usually wear size 8 in shoes. I do love these boots. They are the most comfortable winter boots I've ever owned. I have worn them all day every day this entire week. I did put the insoles that came with them in and I do wear the thickest socks I have.I have been out and about this week walking in parking lots that are wet and icy. I didn't put the metal cleat down, but even without it, I have not slipped at all. I was not familiar with this brand until seeing them on Amazon, but I am completely sold. Very pleased with my purchase and I wouldn't hesitate to buy this brand again now that I have the sizing figured out. These boots are super comfy with a memory foam insert and are waterproof, plus they have a metal insert on the heal for slip protection. I can't give this product a full 5 stars since although I ordered these in a size 9 (half a size larger than I normally wear), they are shorter in length and width than I thought they would be, and my feet are narrow. I even compared the length of this boot to my other winter boots that are also a size 9, and these are considerably shorter. Wish I would have ordered a size 10 for my 8.5 feet. Glad that I am using these specifically for snowblowing my driveway or these would be uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. Wish they sold these in half sizes. My recommendation is to order 1 and 1 half sizes up for absolute comfort and to allow for thicker socks....your toes will thank you!J'ai dû retourner les bottes elles étaient au moins une demie pointure trop PETITE. Elles me semblaient très chaudes avec la fourrure intérieure et les semelles mémoire en surplus. Dommage que j'ai dû les retourner ils car ils n'ont plus la grandeur qui me conviendrait. These ankle boots with cleats are exactly what I needed for our icy spring conditions, slush and puddles! They're easy to get on and off, look great and give me lots of walking comfort. I also bought the tall 'Comfy Moda' boots for winter weather. So I knew I would enjoy the quality of these ankle boots. Highly recommend. My mother loves the boots. Generally she weares shoe size 7 wide. For that reason, and because her feet swell, we ordered size 8 to make sure they fit. However, the right foot boot was a little too snug without the liner. So we returned size 8 and ordered size 9. She is happy with the boots and says that they fit good. She can also use the liners that come with boots. They also look nice. Delivery on both occasions was excellent.I really like this boot, fits good with the extra width. They are warm as well. I mainly bought them for a boot to go shopping or from house to car. Would not use them for long stays outside.
